\  Public employees’ committees

Public employees have the right to form public employees’ committees in each body or service to defend their interests and to exercise the rights provided for in the Constitution of the Portuguese Republic and in the General Labour Law in Public Functions (LTFP).

In the bodies or services with peripheral establishments or de-concentrated organic units the respective public employees may form public employees’ sub-committees.

Public employees’ committees acquire legal personality through the registration of their statutes in the ministry responsible for public administration area; this competence is assigned by delegation to the Directorate General for Administration and Public Employment (DGAEP).
