ASSISTANCE TO A SON/DAUGHTER

» Concept

Justified absence from work to provide urgent and necessary care to a son/daughter in the case of illness, disability or accident

» Personal scope

Parents, adopters, legal guardians and persons to whom the judicial or administrative trust of the minor has been granted as well as the respective spouses or the person who cohabites with them provided that lives in the same household with the minor

It cannot be simultaneously exercised by both holders

» Material scope

» Up to 30 days/year or during all the period of possible hospitalization, in the case of the minor son/daughter of 12 years of age, or irrespective of the age, of a son/daughter with disability/chronic disease

» Up to 15 days/year, in the case of a son/daughter of 12 years of age or older provided that, in the case of being of legal age, lives as part of the household

» 1 day for each son/daughter apart from the first one is added to the refereed periods

» Formalities

The public employer may request justification, namely:

» Proof of the urgent and necessary nature of the assistance

» Declaration that the other parent performs professional activity and is not absent for the same reason or for being unable to provide assistance

» Declaration issued by the hospital establishment proving inpatient treatment

» Effects

» Loss of pay
