STUDENT WORKER

» Concept and scope

Public employee who attends any school education level, postgraduate course, master’s degree or doctoral degree at education institution, as well as vocational training course with equal or higher duration to six months irrespective of the mode of public employment legal relationship

» Formalities

» It needs a request to be submitted to the public employer attesting his/her student status and also presenting the respective school schedule

» Before the educational establishment shall prove his/her worker status

» The maintenance of the student worker status shall be dependent upon obtaining successful school performance to be proven, at the end of each academic year, with the public employer

» Regime

The student worker is entitled:

» To specific/flexible working hours or time off from work from three to six weekly hours, dependent upon of the normal work period applied, without loss of any rights whatsoever deemed as actual performance of service

» To book holidays, as a rule, in accordance with his/her school needs, and may enjoy in an interpolated way 15 days of holidays, without prejudice to the number of holidays to which he/she has right

» To non-performance of supplementary work, except in the case of force majeure, and non-performance of work, on an adaptability regime, whenever interfere with his/her school schedule or with the carrying out of appraisal tests

» To be absent from the service with due justification, without loss of pay, for the carrying out of appraisal tests up to two days for each appraisal test, but shall not exceed the maximum of four for each discipline in each academic year, including Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays

» To benefit, in each calendar year, from a leave without pay, followed or interpolated, until 10 working days, based on school reasons
