SHIFT WORK

» Concept

Shift work is deemed to be, any mode of organisation of team work, in which the public employees occupy successively the same work positions at a determined pace/rate, including the rotating pace that may be of continuous or discontinuous kind

» Regime

This work pattern implies that public employees may perform the work at different hours in the course of a given period of days or of weeks

Duration

The duration of work of each shift shall not exceed the maximum limits of the normal work periods, that is to say, shall not exceed 8 hours per day, or 40 hours per week

Shift change

The public employee may only be changed of shift after the compulsory weekly rest day

Rest

In the continuous labour regime and in cases of activities connected to vigilance, transport and processing of electronic safety systems, shifts shall be organised in such a way as public employees of each shift have, at least, a rest day in each period of seven days, without prejudice to the surplus rest period to which the worker is entitled

Registration

The public employer entity shall have a separate registration of public employees included in each shift
