TIME OFF FOR ANTENATAL EXAMINATIONS/APPOINTMENTS

Exemption of attendance to the service for antenatal examinations/appointments

» Scope

Under this regime may be absent:

» the pregnant public employee

» the future father

» Regime

» The public employee shall, whenever possible, attend to antenatal examinations/appointments outside the work schedule

» If that is not possible, she is entitled to time off from work for antenatal examinations/appointments, for the time and number of times necessary for this purpose

» The father is entitled to three times off work to accompany the public employee to antenatal examinations/appointments

Note

The preparation for childbirth is equivalent to antenatal examination/appointments

» Formalities

Submission of proof of antenatal examinations/appointments and the impossibility of their carrying out outside the normal working hours, whenever so demanded by the public employer

» Effects

» It does not determine the loss of any rights and is deemed as actual performance of work

» Does not loose pay
