COMPLEMENTARY SOCIAL ACTION

» Concept

It is a set of social protection complementary benefits (benefits and personalized social actions) granted to Public Administration public employees, that are intended to the prevention, reduction or problem solving arising from their labour, personal or family situation, that are not taken into consideration through social protection general schemes

» Mission and attributions of Public Administration Social Services

It is incumbent upon Public Administration Social Services - Serviços Sociais da Administração Pública - to ensure the complementary social action of the generality of Public Administration public employees, with exception of those who are covered by other specific services of identical nature

» Scope

The Public Administration Social Services develops complementary social action in the following areas:

- Supply of meals and cafeteria services

- Support to children and young people, old age and disabled persons

- Support in education expenses

- Socio-economic support in socially serious and urgent situations

- Support to leisure time activities

- Support to actions of prevention, promotion and monitoring of beneficiaries? health

» Benefits

The Public Administration Social Services grants the following benefits:

- Day nursery allowance and pre-school education

- Babysitter allowance

- Study allowance

» Affiliation

The affiliation in the capacity of beneficiary is made through a specific model

» Beneficiaries

The following persons may be beneficiaries of the Public Administration Social Services:

- Public employees fulfilling public functions, irrespective of the mode of public employment legal relationship (appointment or contract), for a period higher than six months

- Retired persons from Public Administration services

- Workforce under a general or specific mobility situation

Note

The beneficiaries of abolished social services are deemed beneficiaries of the Public Administration Social Services, provided that they meet requirements as laid down in the law for the respective affiliation

The members of the family household of beneficiaries? holders and of deceased beneficiaries? holders in determined conditions stipulated in the law
