PAY SUPPLEMENTS

PAY SUPPLEMENTS

» Concept

These are increases to the monthly compensation due to the fulfilment of functions in work positions that have more demanding conditions - in an abnormal and transitional or permanent way - with regard to other work positions characterized by identical position or similar career and category

Pay supplements are only due while there is fulfilment of functions, actual performance or as such deemed by a legislative act of the Assembly of the Republic

Supplements are translated, as a rule, in determined amounts and not in percentages of the basic salary, and are always referenced to a concrete work position and never only to the tenure of a career or category

Pay supplements are created and regulated by law or, in the case of public employment legal relationships formed by contract, by collective labour regulation instrument

» Patterns

Transitional supplements

These supplements are due when public employees fulfil functions in work positions characterised by conditions of greater demand, owing to grounds of abnormal and transitional nature, namely:

» Supplementary work

» Night work

» Work in weekly and complementary rest days, as well as official holidays

» Work outside the normal work place

Permanent supplements

These supplements are due when public employees fulfil functions in work positions characterized by conditions of greater demand, owing to reasons of a permanent nature, namely:

» Hazardous, hard and unhealthy work

» Shift work

» Work performed in outlying areas

» Exemption from work schedule

» Secretarial Board staff

» Allowance granted to treasurers or other public employees handling, cash, valuable documents, securities, etc. to compensate them of shortages
