» What is deemed as night work?

Night work is deemed the work fulfilled over a period of time of 7 hours as minimum duration and 11 hours as maximum duration, within the time range from midnight (0pm) to 5am

The night work period may be set by collective labour regulation instrument, being considered as such, in the absence of an established time range, the one covering from 10pm of one day and 7am of the other

» How is night work compensated?

O trNight work shall be compensated with a 25% increase regarding compensation of equivalent work fulfilled at daytime

This compensation increase may be established in a collective labour regulation instrument trough a similar reduction of normal work period maximum limits

Unless provided for in a collective labour regulation instrument there is no place to compensation increase payment related to the following activities:

a) Those fulfilled exclusively or mostly during night time, namely shows and public entertainment

b) Those that for its nature or by force of the law shall compulsorily be at the public’s disposal during night time

c) When the compensation increase for the performance of night work is already part of the basic salary
