Suspension and termination of the benefits

» The law defines the conditions where the unemployment benefits may be suspended or terminated

» The payment of benefits is suspended, when the maternity, paternity or adoption (parenthood) eventuality occur and allowances to the beneficiary are granted for high-risk pregnancy, for termination of pregnancy, initial, parental exclusive of the mother or for adoption. The payment of benefits shall be resumed when the period of granting of these benefits terminates

» If the unemployment occurs and the beneficiary is receiving some of the parenthood allowances, the time limit to request the unemployment benefits shall be initiated when the grant of those ones terminate. The time limit of request shall be also suspended in the incapacity situation for work due to illness, provided that this one shall be extended for more than 30 consecutive or interpolated days, within 90 days beyond the unemployment date

» Forms of protection for the different groups of public employees covered by the convergent social protection scheme:

» Pre-school, primary and secondary public education teachers and military on a contract or voluntary basis: membership at the social security general scheme is exclusively for the eventuality purpose

» Other public employees: direct responsibility of former employers services
