» Conditions to grant unemployment benefits

Common to the unemployment allowance and to the unemployment social allowance:

» Characterization of the labour situation

» Involuntary unemployment situations

» Compliance with a minimum period of work of:

- 450 days of fulfilment of functions within a 24 months period immediately prior to the unemployment date – in the case of unemployment allowance

- 180 days of fulfilment of functions within a period of 12 months immediately prior to the unemployment date – in the case of unemployment social allowance

Special conditions of initial or subsequent unemployment social allowance:

» Household income level, according to the monthly income per capita, on the unemployment date or within the time limit legally set

» Situations in which the unemployment allowance is not attributable and those ones where the beneficiaries have run out the period of granting this one, and where other requirements are verified, when it deals with the subsequent unemployment social allowance

» Who grants the benefits

The competent social security institutions in relation to the Social Security General Scheme’s beneficiaries, to primary and secondary teachers and to the military, on a contract or voluntary basis who are convergent social protection scheme’s beneficiaries

The services where they fulfilled functions before the unemployment in relation to other public employees, who are convergent social protection scheme’s beneficiaries
